Coach
Pupils/Staff arrive on time. Pupils wait in safe place.
PUPIL RULES
Do not rush towards bus. Wear seat belts. Stay seated. Do not block aisles. Remain seated at destination until staff instruction. Use waste bins for litter. Never lean out or throw things from the window of the coach. Never run about. Never kneel or stand on seats. Chewing gum banned from coach. Take care of belongings, especially wallet and other valuables. If you feel unwell tell a teacher. If you have ever been travel sick take medication and have sick bags ready.
Services
STAFF check above rules complied with. Staff count pupils on and off. Teacher issues instructions ref time allowed to purchase Snacks or go to the toilet-pupils listen-use microphone to inform them of rendezvous time, what they can/cannot do, where they can/cannot go, to learn what the outside of the coach looks like, no crossing over motorway bridge. Stay in min 3's. Pupils not permitted in games machine areas or to use the arcade machines. Pupils report back to the coach a few minutes before rendezvous time. Teacher checks with driver if coach locked. SECURITY of belongings-do not allow pupils access to the coach alone and pupils must wait outside coach at rendezvous time. Beware of traffic using bus park.
In Newquay
Pupils listen to and obey teacher instructions. Pupils told to take care when crossing roads and to use designated crossing areas when possible. Pupils stay in minimum of 3's. Pupils not to split up or to be distracted from the set task. Pupils informed which areas are out of bounds. Pupils reminded of code of conduct. Staff to be sticklers ref. rendezvous times. Staff take small group head counts when necessary. Pupils informed what to do if they get lost. Signing in/out book used when appropriate. Pupils told to take care of belongings. Pupils warned of potential hazards.
On the beach
Pupils informed which areas are out of bounds. Pupils look after valuables/belongings. Staff take regular head counts. Teacher has First Aid Box. Staff aware of weaver fish sting treatment. Pupils do not paddle unless instructed by supervising teachers or swim unless instructed to. Check lifeguards present and check flags. Pupils not to climb on rocks unless risk assessed as minimal and accompanied by teacher. Pupils wear old trainers if permitted to paddle/swim. Staff aware of ratios in water-pupil buddy system. Absolutely no litter on the beach. Care to be taken with beach games, pupils alerted to bat/ball dangers, sand in eyes. Return all equipment to hotel. Pupils forewarned of potential hazards.
Surfing
Do head count on arrival at beach. Staff check instructions issued to pupils. Pupils obey all safety instruction-especially never undo board leash when in water. Wear old trainers if requested. Keep in designated area. Look out for buddy. Wear wet suit. Look after belongings. Staff-regular headcounters. Pupils forewarned of potential hazards (incl. weaver fish).
The Hotel
Pupils will be instructed on general regulations prior to the trip at the Hotel. OA Staff will instruct on hotel regulations. No running/rushing about. Keep noise levels appropriate. No visiting other rooms at all. There will be a fire safety talk to instruct pupils on fire exits (never to be used by pupils unless fire bell sounds) and safety, and fire drill. Pupils keep rooms/bathrooms clean and tidy. Report all damage/problems to staff. Staff check security of bedroom locks and main door security arrangements. Staff aware of master keys. Staff check security of windows/electrical fittings regularly. Pupils told who to see if upset or worried. Pupils told the maximum enjoyment of the whole group can only be achieved through full co-operation and bags of enthusiasm shown by the pupils, to make a positive, happy, fun atmosphere for the whole duration of their trip.
